Verification is typically carried out manually by entering hidden numbers or alphanumeric codes into designated web links, or by scanning a randomly generated QR code on the label.

When random QR codes linked to websites are printed on the label, the scratch-off coating should extend over at least half of the QR code to inhibit a second verification attempt.
