Scratch-off Coating
Random serial numbers or alphanumerics can be protected by a scratched-off coating, enhancing their security features.
Typically, a system accompanies this, requiring manual verification by entering the concealed number or alphanumeric into the system or a provided weblink. This process may include the option of using a QR code printed on the label.
When printing random QR codes containing weblinks on the label, the scratch-off coating should cover at least half of the QR code to hinder any second verification attempts.
The drawback of this coating lies in the presence of toxic heavy metals such as Pb, Ba, Hg, Se, As, Cd, Cr, and Sb. Moreover, the coating is susceptible to damage during transportation, either through products rubbing against each other or potential vandalism.
Underneath the coating, there can be text, numbers, alphanumerics, and QR codes.
Scratch-off coating technology has found application in various sectors, including verifying the authenticity of lottery tickets, product packaging, and more.
